GIVING A SPLASH OF COLOUR TO OUR WORK LIFE – CULTURAL DIVERSITY DAY 2018
We’ve taken a page out of our book of Group values and transformed it into yet another event to remember. 2018’s Cultural Diversity Day boasted bigger celebrations (and more food) than its first edition held last year.
With 1,700 employees coming from all the corners of the world, diversity is a fundamental value deep-rooted in our mission. Its significance is embraced all year round, but one special day is yearly selected to loosen up, put on a show and showcase everyone’s native customs.
The Poseidon Hall at the Seashells Hotel in Qawra hosted a massive cultural celebration on April 5th, welcoming a multitude of nationalities. Employees from the Philippines and India dressed up in traditional attire and prepared dances to entertain the crowd. Others from Spain, Russia, Hungary, Nigeria, Serbia, India, Pakistan and Italy presented ethnic delicacies to be enjoyed by all the attendees, including parotta with chili, suckling pigs, chicken Adobo and jollof rice.
The Maltese food table, proudly prepared by the CaterEssence team displayed an array of classic dishes, from rabbit and snails, to bowls of kirxa and bigilla. Impromptu performances were a hit, with the Maltese chanting well-known verses from Xemx and Viva Malta; while Daniela, one of CareMalta’s staff, left everyone in awe with her surprising dance moves.
Cultural Diversity Day has officially become part of the Group’s annual event line-up. Each year, the whole team gears up to an even more spectacular event, with more nationalities excited to share their heritage.
