Learning Support Educator
FULL TIME
The Role
A vacancy has arisen at the Mediterranean College of Sport (MCS) for the post of a Learning Support Educator (LSE) on a full-time basis. An LSE is expected to perform duties which enable support to access learning and assessment with all learners in a class, or learners with a statement of needs.
Duties related to support in teaching and learning
- Supporting and collaborating with the subject teacher and other colleagues. Under the guidance of the subject teachers, assisting in the education of all learners in class, in particular learners with individual educational needs so that their individual curricular entitlement is ensured and their learning needs are catered for.
- Assisting the teaching and learning process led by the Teacher, promoting independence and fulfilment of all learners, with or without a recognised statement of needs, in all learning experiences and at both Secondary and Sixth Form level.
- Participating fully in Making Action Plans sessions (MAPs).
- Writing, developing and implementing Individual Educational Plans (IEPs), for all learners with a statement in class, taking into consideration the feedback from the subject teachers. This includes adapting lesson plans and preparing resources according to the needs of the learners.
- Attending IEP and Individual Transition Plan (ITP) meetings.
- Reviewing IEPs, including recording and reporting progress of such IEP implementation on a regular basis.
- Assisting in the preparation of educational materials and playing an active part in all the components of the instructional and educational process in class under the direction of the subject teachers.
- Participating in the observation, assessment and documentation process of the performance and behaviour of all learners in collaboration with the subject teachers.
- Assessing learners following an adapted curriculum, on their IEP goals, in collaboration with the subject teachers.
- Participating in the respective individual transition programmes to assist students as they move from one educational level to another, from school to school, and from school to work. This will involve handing over of all relevant information and documents to other involved colleagues to ensure a smooth transition for the learner.
- Promoting an inclusive community of learners, in collaboration with other professionals, specialists and/or other educational and therapeutic environments.
- Promoting at all times the aims, ethos and policies of the school or Resource Centre deployed in, and actively working as a member of the staff team.
- Assisting in the preparation, dissemination and use of teaching resources ensuring their upkeep in class and school.
- Supporting learners during activities/therapy sessions held outside the school premises including experiences in the community, work-places and other further and higher educational institutions.
- Encouraging participation in EU projects and other projects in accordance with the SDP targets and as agreed with the Senior Management Team.
Duties related to school transport
- May assist in the boarding and offboarding of learners on and off the transport vehicle and, in the case of students who are wheelchair users, put on the restraints on the wheelchair and put on the passenger restraint on the students to ensure safety during transportation.
- Carry out transport supervision duties to and from school when the transport of learners during normal school hours is necessary.
- Performing any other duties assigned by the Head of School or his/her delegate according to the exigencies of the school.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Prior experience as a Learning Support Educator would be considered an asset.
- Possession of a recognised full qualification (Degree) at MQF Level 6 or higher, in Inclusive Education or a comparable professional qualification will be considered an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good time management skills.

Temporary Full-Time Front Office Receptionist (Maternity Cover)
FULL TIME
The Role
A vacancy has arisen at the Mediterranean College of Sport (MCS) & Sports Star Lodge for the post of Front Office Receptionist on a temporary full-time basis to cover maternity leave period from February 2025 . We are looking for a smart and professional person to manage our front office and to perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks. In this role, the selected person will be the first point of contact at the School and its accommodation facility, Sport Star Lodge. She/he will be in charge of giving members of staff, parents and visitors directions to the various parts of the premises, contacting members of Staff, answering phone calls, taking messages, sorting and distributing mail when necessary.
The selected person will be responsible for:
- Greeting clients and visitors with a positive attitude.
- Directing clients and visitors to the respective offices as necessary.
- Assisting the School Leadership Team and the School Secretary in administrative tasks as required.
- Preparing and setting up of meeting rooms.
- Answering phones in a professional manner, and redirecting calls as necessary.
- Sorting and distributing mail when necessary.
- Providing excellent customer service to the whole school community.
- Performing any other duties according to the exigencies of the School as directed by the Head of School or her delegate
- Other duties that may be assigned to you by a member of the School’s senior management team
Qualifications and Skills:
- In possession of at least MQF Level 3 level of education.
- Prior experience as a Receptionist or in a similar position would be considered an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good time management skills.
- Multi-tasking and can work under pressure and on her/his own initiative.
- Be competent in Microsoft applications.
- Have a flexible approach.
- Able to contribute positively as part of a team, by helping out with various tasks as may be required.
